Life can Be hard - we just have to trust His plan...
This is Mike, my DH and a very dedicated dad and Airman. He has had an amazingly hard year and has been rolling with the punches, but the blow last night about brought him to his knees. He has been trying for a year to cross train into flight engineering so that we can have our dream house - a log cabin on 10+ acres. We gave ourselves 2 years to meet this goal and it is hard to believe that a year has past already. Well, the flight pay, combat and hostile fire pay and the job that I get after I graduate from UC Davis next summer would finance this dream... he has been waiting for the AFPC to send him his package and class date for 7 months now...
Well, they sat on it, all of the flight engineering spot got filled, Mike's crosstrain was disapproved ~ just like that... no answers just "Sorry, it took so long that all the spots filled up, you can always try FY09."
The guy who told him was such a prick~ I don't like to call names, but he was a real jerk about it...
Anywho, we don't know God's plan, but he has made this transition of ours amazingly difficult -nothing comes easy to us, there is a reason, we just don't know yet. But the dream is worth it, we will persevere!

We had the same problem last year when Tom was trying to cross train, it was our old commander, he sat on it because he didn't want Tom to leave and two months later when he finally put the dang paper in, bam, no more jobs left. I was sooooo- mad. Oh well. I didn't know if you guys were still here or not. Are you still on base?
No, we moved last july when Mike got home. There were some weird things happening on base and Mike and I decided that we should go to be safe. We moved into my aunts house in Sacramento, we occupy her "west wing".
I see that things are going well with you! Baby 4? That is wonderful! Do you know boy or
girl yet?
Mike has been going through that same thing that Tom did with his pkg - his commander sat on it and went tdy 2x's b4 he would send it in.
Is Tom going to try again?
Tom will probably try again, we have a new commander now. He has been gone so much lately it is hard. He is in SC and should be home in a few weeks. I love Sac, that's nice that you can stay with family, I lived with my grandparents for awhile and when Tom was gone for summers we went and stayed up there. We find out June 17 what this little one is going to be. This is our last and I am ready to start weeding out baby furniture and get some more space around here. :)
Donna remember when We had every thing ready to for Dale to get a commission to be a Russian interpreter and boom at the last minute they denied him. Sorry too bad try again next year oops next year you will told for a commission . It sucked big time we were crushed. We were mad and could not believe that this could happen.
It wasent for almost 4 years that we realized that God had his resons.I know we were to stay in California and had we gotten the commission I know there would we would have never had Ben and William. Trust in God he knows us all so well he knows us better than our selves.
I love you and Mike so much Give him a hug for me and let him know we are thinking of him and that he is in ou prayers.
Sorry to hear that's happened.
I can tell you from my life that when God closes the door, he always opens a window. I can't tell you how many doors I've had slammed shut only to have him open something more glorious. Take heart. I'll be praying for you!

Your newest friend/reader in Oregon here ... know I'm praying for a mighty resolution to this situation. Life can be so complex and frustrating sometimes. We can only cling to He who is really in control.
Hugs,Shawnee
